The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered a ₦13 billion theft from government coffers in September 2024 alone.
This was disclosed by ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, during the launch of the commission’s 2024-2028 Strategic Action Plan (SAP) in Abuja.
Dr. Aliyu announced that the ICPC recovered the diverted funds while discharging its mandate.
“Over the past year, the ICPC has made significant progress in discharging its mandate. For example, we recovered over ₦13 billion in diverted public funds in September 2024 alone.”
The ICPC said it is developing a specialized curriculum to enhance the enforcement capacity of its personnel. This initiative will equip officers with the skills and expertise needed to address corruption cases with professionalism and efficiency.
In response to the third national corruption survey, the ICPC said it has intensified efforts to engage citizens, civil society, and the media in the anti-corruption campaign. The commission’s upcoming EthicsPod digital community aims to foster a culture of transparency and accountability nationwide.
