Onyeka Onwenu Wanted To Buried Beside Her Father's Grave In Imo State - Sons, Tijani & Ibrahim Say.

The remains of legendary singer, veteran broadcaster and nollywood actor, Lady Onyeka Onwenu, "The Elegant Stallion" as she is popularly known and called were laid to rest today Friday, August 30, in Lagos with very close friends and family members which included the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi and Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti in attendance. 

Her funeral started with a church service which took place at her church, the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, where the likes of Mrs. Stella Okoli, the Chairman and CEO of Emzor Pharmaceuticals Lts at whose 80th birthday party Onyeka slumped after doing her last performance on earth was present, Nollywood actor, Joke Silva, Mediaprenuer, Agatha Amata, Nollywood actor, Arinze Okonkwo, Orits Wiliky, Tee Mac Omatshola Iseli, and other were in attendance.

The Elegant Stallion, Onyeka Onwunu, died on July 30, 2024, at the Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing following her very  enegetic performance at the 80th birthday party of Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

She was 72 years old, would have been 73 in January 2025. She is survived by her two sons, Tijani and Ibrahim Ogunlende who said their mother would have preferred to be buried beside her father's grave in Arondizuogu, Imo State but they couldn't keep that part of her wish because of the security issues bedeviling the state at the moment and they didn't want to risk anyone's life traveling all the way.
