Dave Umahi & Laila Johnson-Salami. |
The trending video on Social Media since yesterday has been the altercation between the Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi and Arise News correspondent, Laila Johnson-Salami, where the minister was heard during the media session with the comment in response to Laila’s question about environmental permission from the federal ministry of environment for work to go on with the Calabar-Lagos Coastal Lane saying “Sister, I Was Raised In The Village, I Don’t Understand Phony” meaning phonetics but the correspondent was very geared to extract answers for the very vital question she asked the minister and never bulged.
The Minister of Works had organized a
media session to address social media controversy with regard to the ongoing
Calabar-Lagos Coastal lane which is budgeted to eat up a whooping 2.4 Billion
dollars out of the 2024 budget.
A clip surfaced on the internet and attached herewith, capturing the
moment the former Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi clashed with an Arise News
correspondent over her brilliant use of the English language, which majority of
the children of Dave Umahi has, so there was no reason why he could not
understand her use of the English word unless he wanted to either cow her or
make her feel inferior which the very beautiful Laila refused to let happen to
her.
In her response,
Laila explained to the minister that it was just her way of speaking with the
minister requesting an interpreter, but Laila insisted that he had enough
people around him to help him understand what she was saying.
Following the
exchange, Umahi addressed Laila’s question by asserting that they had obtained
all the necessary approvals to commence the project.
