The
serene Victoria Garden City, VGC Estate was rattled by gunfire as a
confrontation between residents escalated into a dangerous situation.
Princess
Joylin Mateno Ohoro, a resident of VGC Estate, found herself at the center of
the chaos when an early morning dog-related incident spiraled out of control.
According
to Princess Joylin Mateno Ohoro’s account, the altercation began innocuously
enough with a minor car issue outside her residence. As she awaited her
business partner, George Ezenwa, for a scheduled appointment, a simple car
battery malfunction delayed their plans, but when her dog unexpectedly followed
Mr. Ezenwa outside the premises, a passerby’s reaction triggered a chain of
events.
The
individual, identified as Prince Chris Odinaka Igwe, who lives at Road 12, off
Road 3, VGC Estate and the owner of PEACE MALL VGC and Mainland Oil and Gas
Ltd.
Prince
Igwe had reportedly panicked at the sight of the dog and stumbled, leading to a
fall. Seemingly incensed by the incident, Prince Igwe returned shortly
thereafter with an armed companion, unleashing a volley of gunshots towards
Princess Joylin Mateno Ohoro’s property. The situation escalated further when
Princess Joylin Mateno Ohoro’s young son unwittingly emerged from the house
during the gunfire, adding to the already fraught circumstances.
Despite
desperate pleas for calm from Princess Joylin Mateno Ohoro, Mr. George Ezenwa,
and concerned neighbors like Mr. Henry Nelson, Prince Igwe allegedly continued
to threaten violence, even menacingly vowing to target other dogs in the
neighborhood.
Adding
to the gravity of the situation, Prince Igwe is identified as a prominent
figure within the VGC community, being the owner of PEACE MALL VGC and residing
at P47a, Road 12, off Road 3, VGC Estate. This revelation underscores the need
for swift and decisive action to address the escalating tensions within the
estate.
The
harrowing ordeal left Princess Joylin Mateno Ohoro deeply traumatized,
compounded by the fear for her family’s safety and the well-being of her
grandmother, who had to be rushed to the hospital amidst the chaos.
The
incident sheds light on the importance of conflict resolution and community
safety measures within residential areas, urging for greater vigilance and
cooperation among neighbors to prevent such alarming events from recurring.
Authorities have been alerted, and investigations into the matter are underway
to ensure the safety and security of all residents within VGC Estate.
As
tensions simmer in the aftermath of this morning’s events, residents are left
grappling with the stark reality of violence encroaching upon their
once-tranquil enclave.

Keep your dogs on leash at all times. This could have been prevented if the dog didn't threaten the man.

DeleteI’m wondering how a harmless dog threatened a big man like him who I’m certain should have multiple of dogs in his own abode and according to what I hear, the supposed dog is dead, either by an act of god or by human. This matter shouldn’t have gone the way it did go if the Odinaka of a man did use his wealth and influence in the wrong way.

So your point now is ? Because the gun was not used for defence when the incident with the dog happened but the gun was brought on scene afterwards and fired to scare, intimidate and harass and probably to kill the owner of the dog because of what? Is that how lawless Nigeria or should I say residents in highbrow areas of Lagos have become ?

ReplyDeleteThat's not true,it is never to malign or undermine anyone character, this is a story of happenings in neighborhoods and estate,it can be anyone and can happen anywhere, it's in this platform to create awareness for it not to reoccur elsewhere, and for neighbors to know how to manage little conflicts among themselves, Pet dogs are harmless at some point. And you can't use a gun to defend towards a unarmed pet dog, that's extreme if I would say it.
DeleteSo the way I see it now, Nigerians can take law into their own hands when offended or provoked. It has even gotten to the point where the rich and wealthy can instruct their security to use live firearms on others. In this case now because of a dog owner carelessly leaving their dog unleashed , the wealthy man has to go to the extent of going to get his gun and then intimidate the dog owner and the dog. Why??? Because it’s Nigeria where the elite think they can break the law and do as they like.

It's one thing if he only shot the dog, but started raining down bullets while a child and others are there? Support well. Those who have money will continue to treat everyone as disposable. If the man stumbled as a result of sighting the dog, it means the dog was too big to be without leash.so the owner should have put the dog on leash and be careful not to allow this dog run into the streets. Matter of fact, if you can’t control your dog, don’t own one.
ReplyDeleteHowever, returning later with fire arms to threaten the peace of everyone and indeed firing shots should be taken seriously. That’s an intent to cause harm with threats.
The law should take its course.
