It was a beautiful weekend as all roads led to the palace
of Olowo of Owu at Ago Owu in Abeokuta, Ogun State as both former and present
stars of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, gathered for their own and ace
broadcaster, Funmi Wakama who retired after putting in 35years in service.

She and her darling husband, Mr. Ene Wakama were also bestored
a chieftaincy title of Yeye Fiwagboye and Fiwagboye of Owu Kingdom by HRM Oba
Prof. Saka Matemilola Oluyalo Otileta VII.

Several of the stars of television broadcasting in
Nigerian, like Siene Allwell-Brown, Ruth Benemesia-Opia, Ronke Ayuba, Seun
Olagunju, former Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Waheed Olagunju
and others were all on hand to celebrate their own, Funmi and husband, Ene as
she retired from the NTA after putting in 35yrs rising through the ranks to a
frontline manager.

According to a post made by her former colleague and
friend, Seun Olagunju sho now works with the Bank of Industry, BOI, she said, “This
was part of several celebrations, including her promotion, retirement from the
NTA after 35 years of a sterling career in broadcasting and management, launch
of her foundation and Media Outfit”.
Funmi Wakama was not only good as a broadcaster and one of the best on NTA Network news at 9, she changed the face of NTA Abeokuta as General Manager, after she served as a Senior Special Assistant, SSA to a former Governor of Ogun State and before her retirement, she rose to Director of News, NTA.
